Amendment 6
Right: Defendant may be represented by an attorney during the entire criminal process

Argument: Defendant shouldn't have to stand trial without being represented by an official who may be able to prove him/her innocent
Court Case: Johnson v. Zerbst (Anyone who cannot afford an attorney will be appointed one by the court without question)
Contemporary: Defendants have attorneys unless they opt to represent themselves in court

Argument: Accused should be able to have a public trial
Court Case: Sheppard v. Maxwell (right to public trial is not absolute)
Contemporary: Public trial may be switched to closed trial if there is the threat of prejudicing the jury or harming participants
